Damaged intergroup relations in post-conflict contexts marked by histories of war and human rights violations constitute a major obstacle to peace-building and reconciliation. In addition, intergroup relations tend to be affected by polarized narratives about the past that inhibit the positive consequences of in-group contact. PCRC’s Consultant Sabina Čehajić-Clancy, examined our work for over six years and did evaluation of our award-wining peacebuilding program ‘Ordinary Heroes’. In an article for Peace and Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology, Sabina and University of Delaware’s Michal Bilewicz examine effects of our work and contact intervention containing narratives of moral exemplars on reconciliation processes in the post-genocide setting of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
