Ordinary Heroes comprises a series of reconciliation-focused educational and creative multimedia activities in towns and cities throughout BiH and the greater Balkans region. The project’s primary activities include multi-ethnic, contact-based “Heroes in Training” participatory youth sessions, Ordinary Heroes Multimedia Festivals, the Srđan Aleksić Youth Competition and the development of the Ordinary Heroes Digital Archive.
PCRC organized a multidisciplinary youth event in Tuzla, BiH, which delivered a four-day regional program that utilized various forms of multimedia to highlight the heroism of real-life individuals who acted on behalf of others in times of danger and conflict.
PCRC held a conference “Remembrance and Forgiveness: Steps towards a Brighter Future” in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, bringing 35 international students and 65 Bosnian students from throughout the country together to discuss the issues surrounding genocide and concentration camp detainment.
Utilizing various forms of media and communication—from panel discussions and personal narratives, to photography exhibitions and film—the 2-day conference educated members of the youth, civil society, and international community about the topics of moral courage and rescuer behavior and their importance in attaining sustainable peace in post-conflict settings.
